How do they use Ethos?
Anzaldúa uses ethos in her book to show how her personal stories are credible such as using examples from her personal stories or from a different subject that is considered as reliable. "The painful periods of confusion that I suffer are systemic of a larger creative process: cultural shifts. The stress of living with cultural ambiguity both compelled me to write and blocks me..." (Anzaldúa 96).
Davis uses ethos in her book to convince the audience that she acknowledges the topic of her book and connect it to her personal experiences. She uses historical events to sound plausible. "As a preteen, I developed a visceral response to injustice and engaged in my own spontaneous acts of resistance-- for instance , deliberately sitting in the "whites only" section in the front of the bus, drinking water from the white fountains, and entering white restrooms" (Davis 6).
